Frequently Asked Questions

  • A postpartum Doula is a non-medical professional employed to provide guidance, physical and emotional support to newborn parents. My main role is to encourage self-confidence in you, as new parents, by supporting you and your family with evidence-based information and practical and emotional care after the birth of a baby.

  • The earlier the better! Ideally we will meet casually for a chat before you book me so we can both be sure we’re a good fit for each other, and this can happen sometime between 8-20 weeks gestation. Then we would book in your Postpartum Planning session around 30 weeks. In saying this, I have also taken on families that have already had their baby!

I will support you from the moment you book me in, whether that's at 8 weeks or 2 weeks postpartum (pending availability)!

I will support you from the moment you book me in, whether that's at 10 weeks gestation or 38 weeks!

  • The entire Canberra area. If you live in the Canberra surrounds, contact me, and we can discuss. I’m willing to travel depending on my availability.

  • A Doula is not recognised as a certified profession, however, we do have certification for completion of training.

  • I completed my Doula training through the Australian Doula Collage. I’m constantly furthering my education and have recently completed the Accidental Counsellor course through Lifeline. I also hold a WWVP card, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certificate along with current CPR competencies.

  • Yes absolutely, I offer one-off support visits. If you would like to book a one-off visit get in contact and we can chat about tailored support.

  • I like to schedule 2-3 hour visits. This allows enough time for us to debrief since the last visit, put a load of washing on and hang it out, cook you some lunch and if you are breastfeeding, I can provide information or suggestions on positioning and latch.

Most families opt for 1-2 visits per week with visits usually concluding by the 8-12 week mark depending on the support package selected.

  • Whilst I am a certified Birth & Postpartum Doula and absolutely love attending births, with a little one of my own at home and still working part-time, being on-call often can be tricky. At this stage I am taking a break from providing birth support.
